Solar park Hechthausen festively opened

03 September 2024

Chint Solar and NewDev, together with Erwin Jark of the municipality of Hechthausen and Jan Tiedemann of the Samtgemeinde Hemmoor, offically opened Solarpark Hechthausen on Saturday, August 31. They did so by symbolically plugging the project to the grid.

More than 120 interested visitors attended the event. They had the opportunity to go on a tour at the solar park and ask their questions to the experts present. Various activities were organized for the children. The day concluded with food and drinks.

Solar park Hechthausen is located in the municipality of Hechthausen in Landkreis Cuxhaven, Lower Saxony. The more than 16,000 solar panels have an installed capacity of 10 MWp and can provide around 3,500 households with renewable energy. It was commissioned end of July.

Energizing the local community

Chint Solar and NewDev want to make a contribution to local sport activities. For this reason, donation cheques were presented to the football club SV Bornberg, whose sports field is adjacent to the solar park, and the sports club TuRa Hechthausen.

Contribution to the energy transition

“I look back on a great afternoon,” said Maike Thron, Head of Cooperations and M&A at Chint Solar in Germany. “It was very nice to see that so many interested locals attended the opening. This shows that renewable energy is an important subject. The event therefore gives me even more energy to continue working on the energy transition in Germany.”

For Chint Solar, the opening marked a special milestone: Solarpark Hechthausen is its first completed solar park in Germany. Maike Thron: “After previously successfully realizing more than 25 projects in the Netherlands, Portugal and Hungary, I am proud that we have now also completed our first solar park in Germany. Later this year, we also expect to complete the construction of PVA Schönermark Süd, an 80 MWp project in Brandenburg. With these two projects, we are taking a step in the right direction toward a greener future.”

Working together for a sustainable future

Mark-Oliver Otto and Tanja Mado of NewDev: “We are proud that after careful preparation, the solar park is now actually a reality. There is no better way to celebrate this together with the municipality, local residents, project partners and interested visitors. This solar park is an example of what we can achieve when we work together for a sustainable future.”
